A scene in Venice

Pace in Venice, Fisherman
During the spring of 2003 my wife, Bettine, and I went to Italy. Before we left for Italy people asked if we weren't worried about anti-American feelings. We weren't and we experienced none but we did see a lot of antiwar and anti-Bush signs and graffiti wherever we went. And there were peace flags.
There were so many peace (PACE) flags , hanging from balconies and scaffolding and flying on flag polls that it was a rare street where we couldn't see at least one.
That inspired me to paint a series of oil paintings of Venice: PACE in Venice.
